December 7 - 15
An intimate and touching show, featuring music by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick (Fiddler on the Roof) and book by Joe Masteroff (Cabaret), She Loves Me was nominated for five Tony Awards in 1964. The 1993 Broadway revival won the Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival, the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Revival of a Musical and the 1994 Critics Circle Award for Best Musical, while the 2016 Broadway Revival snagged the Tony Award for Best Scenic Design (beating Hamilton!). Considered by many to be the most charming musical ever written, She Loves Me is a warm romantic comedy with an endearing innocence and a touch of old-world elegance.
Set in a 1930s European perfumery, we meet shop clerks, Amalia and Georg, who, more often than not, don't see eye to eye. After both respond to a "lonely hearts advertisement" in the newspaper, they now live for the love letters that they exchange, but the identity of their admirers remains unknown. Join Amalia and Georg to discover the identity of their true loves...and all the twists and turns along the way! The Miklos Laszlo play Parfuemerie, on which it is based, has inspired many adaptations, including the beloved film You've Got Mail starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks.
March 14 - 30
In March, we have the return of LagunaTots, the bratty step-child of Lagunatics. Featuring loads of young talent, and featuring parody songs about things we can all relate to – homework, embarrassing parents, and the latest trends of the youths – there is something in this show for everyone.
LagunaTots leverages the strength of No Square's beloved Lagunatics brand while bringing the headlines to the middle, junior high level of humor, fun and great local kid talent. Laugh and sing along to humor that every adult will appreciate and every kid will dance and sing their hearts out to while we all make fun of this life in a town we love - Kid Style.
May 9 - 25
A Musical Parody of the classic computer game, each dysentery track is a love song. "Love on the trail! Leave the kids at home to come see something ridiculous!"
At the top of the show, characters' names are picked from suggestions shouted from the audience, and at the end the audience chooses which character dies. Hilarity ensues!
The Trail to Oregon! is an original musical produced by Starkid Productions and was first performed in Chicago in the summer of 2014. It is also the most historically accurate (well, okay, only) musical portraying the Oregon Trail to date. Featuring 12 semi-educational songs, a set precisely (or not) replicating the trail's landscape, and appearances from famous historical figures such as Henry McDoon, Cletus Jones, and Cornwallis. Never heard of them?? Then come on over, get educated, laugh and join the audience participation!
June 20 - 29
Adapted from the original play by Carl Sternheim, Steve Martin, the renowned comic actor and author of Picasso at the Lapine Agile, provides a wild satire adapted from the classic German play about Louise and Theo Markes, a couple whose conservative existence is shattered when Louise's bloomers fall down in public. Though she pulls them up quickly, he thinks the incident will cost him his job as a government clerk. Louise's momentary display does not result in the feared scandal but it does attract two infatuated men, each of whom wants to rent the spare room in the Markes' home. Oblivious of their amorous objectives, Theo splits the room between them, happy to collect rent from both the foppish poet and the whiny hypochondriac.
August 8 - 24
A loving send-up of the 1950s, small-town America, teenagers, and rock & roll, Bye Bye Birdie remains as fresh and vibrant as ever. Teen heartthrob Conrad Birdie has been drafted, so he chooses All-American girl Kim MacAfee for a very public farewell kiss. Featuring a tuneful high-energy score, plenty of great parts for teens, and a hilarious script, Birdie continues to thrill audiences around the world.
Winner! Four 1961 Tony Awards, including Best Musical
Nominee: Eight 1961 Tony Awards
Winner! 1961 Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical
Winner! 1996 Primetime Emmy Award, Outstanding Music & Lyrics

Learning how to audition well is the secret to success in the musical theatre. Casting decisions are sometimes based on factors you can’t control (age, height, vocal range), but consistently good auditions— and call-backs—are the key to long-term success.
This program is on-going and available for no charge.
Students may reach out to No Square's Founding Artistic Director, Bree Burgess Rosen, to coordinate a teaching artist with the specific needs of a pending audition.
